Started in 1967as a subsidiary of Clipper Manufacturing, Billy Goat became independent in 1969. Today, the company is owned and operated by two generations of the Coates family. In 1974, Billy Goat moved to its current location in Lee's Summit, Missouri, USA. Since that time, the company has expanded its facilities three times; the most recent being a 20,000 square foot addition occupied by welding and fabrication.
Our company's reputation is one of durability, integrity, and innovation. We not only design for ease of use, but we aggressively test what we design. It is not unusual to see Goats over fifteen years old still in operation.
Billy Goat has exported its products around the globe for well over 20 years. Some of our export markets include Western Europe, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and Japan. Our customers in the United States include professional lawncare contractors, asphalt maintenance contractors, rental dealers, sweeping contractors, hobby farmers, property owners/managers, and homeowners to name a few.
Our single biggest asset is the people that work for us. A family atmosphere, a healthy dose of fun, and a commitment to continuous improvement are just several reasons many of our employees boast ten or more years of service.
Since 1993, the company has made significant investments in benefits programs, training, tooling and equipment, and facilities to make us more competitive in the future.
